Pickling Plant

The pickling plant is the core of metal surface treatment plants where raw metal coils are subjected to the sensitive process of getting rid of any impurities to obtain the best surface quality. The specialized facility is equipped with a sequence of tanks with acidic solutions that are specific to the specific metal under processing which normally contains acids like hydrochloric or sulfuric acid. These tanks are gently filled with metal coils in which an acidic solution is effective in dissolving surface oxides, scale and other impurities. The pickling process, having controlled temperature and immersion time, allows cleansing the metal surface properly and prepares it for follow-up operations including galvanizing or coating. High-technology pickling facilities are usually automated and can be programmed to maintain the treatment process in parameters like acid level, temperature, and immersion duration to obtain repeatability and efficiency.
